Copyright: Rules of Usage

This symbol is copyrighted. I have designed it to be a symbol that represents “atheism.” It has no other meaning except that if a person were to wear it as, say, a lapel pin or a badge, or to place the symbol on the bumper of his or her car, then the symbol would be saying, “I am an atheist.” It has no other meaning. It does not represent a negative statement about religion. It represents a positive statement about atheism.

I hereby grant free use of this symbol to be used on badges, stickers, coffee cups, lapel pins, necklaces, headstones or articles of clothing. I grant free use of this symbol to be used in literature, pamphlets, news letters, or any other printed material; or other visual media such as websites, television, or moving pictures—so long as the stated or implied meaning is “atheism.” I do not authorize any derivative works except to place the symbol within a circle.   —Max Lambert
